Bucharest National Opera presents Saturday, November 3rd, 6:30 pmCavalleria Rusticana & Pagliacci” by Pietro Mascagni – Ruggiero Leoncavallo – Anniversary show dedicated to soprano Silvia Voinea on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her career.

The show has the signature of Ion Caramitru, the scenography was created by Viorica Petrovici, and the light design concept belongs to Chris Jaeger. The conductor will be the master Mihnea Ignat – invited.

Over the past three decades of artistic activity on the stage of the Bucharest National Opera, soprano Silvia Voinea evolved alongside all the artists of the theater. During her international career, she has worked with the Komische Oper Berlin and the Berliner Staatsoper (15 years), the Semper Opera Dresden (5 years), the Royal Theater in Liège (3 years), the Klagenfurt Opera House (4 years). She had numerous personal tours through the cities of the world, and after a premiere of the Lakmé production at the Opera in Liège, a very eloquent article appeared in La Wallonie – Liège, in which she was named …Lakmé, Madame, c’est vous! Silvia Voinea remains the last great interpretation of the role of Lakmé on the European scenes of the 20th century. From 1990 until now she is a canto professor at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where in 2001 she received the title of Doctor in Music rated Magna cum Laude.

Being one of the most applauded opera titles, “Cavalleria rusticana” justifies its presence in the repertoire of theaters around the world. The inspiration with which the composer found the literary text, the musical correspondent, the plasticity of the images and the passionate character of the typical Italian song, holds the glory of this title.

“Pagliacci” is a two-act work composed by Ruggiero Leoncavallo on his own libretto. The opera is one of the works in the permanent repertoire of lyrical theaters everywhere.
